The second I bought the Tuckernuk Polo Sweatshirt, the best seller from our round-up on Monday, I knew I wanted to feature it in an outfit worthy of the holidays.
Entertaining at home is where it’s at these days, and whether you’re a guest or host, you want to be comfortable and appropriate.
And because we’re all about building a wardrobe and not reinventing the wheel every time you get dressed, I wanted to use some tried and true favorites. Items I know you have in your closet, many you picked up for last holiday season.
So, that’s what I did.
How to Wear it: The Tuckernuk Polo Sweatshirt
Polo Sweatshirt, $98 | Back Seam Skinny Pants, $128 | Calf Hair Mule, $128 | Bag, $40 | Earrings, $290 |Ring, $78
First is our key piece, the Polo Sweatshirt. though it’s really the furthest thing from a sweatshirt. More accurately, it’s a double knit top with bracelet-length sleeves and a collar. I ordered it in green in the M/L. It’s also available in black, red, and oatmeal.
I’m pairing it above and in real life with the Spanx Perfect Skinny Pants. These have been in our top ten best sellers for more than a year, so I know that many of our long-time readers have them in their closets. They are a ponte knit pant, so a mix of a trouser and a legging.
I am 5’10 and these fit me well, covering my ankles. If you’d like an ankle length option, this season they have a similar pair, in all sizes including plus and petite in black and navy.
What is important to note is that the material of the top and either pant work together beautifully: casual, stretchy, and polished.
My first instinct was to wear these with the Birdie Starling Loafers (and, again, that’s what I’ll wear). If you own a pair, you know they are insanely comfortable and the ideal shoe if you are hosting a party at home.
To give you some variety, I’m featuring these calf hair mules, also by Birdie. If you splurged on any of the Jenni Kayne mules in either the cheetah or giraffe print (still on sale), you could wear them here too.
Next up is this sweet little bag from Amazon’s The Drop collection. I ordered it in tan for myself, and I am so impressed with the quality, especially since it’s only $40.
I’m featuring it in black above; it’s such a fun, updated alternative to a formal clutch. You can keep it on your wrist all night, so you are hands-free all night.
Finally, it’s time for jewelry. I went big with these earrings both in style and price.
Most of the jewelry I feature in our posts is relatively affordable, but now and then, you might want to splurge, and I am in love with these Valentino earrings. Considering that they are costume, they are expensive, but I think they make the outfit.
I also included this sweet pearl accent ring from Kendra Scott, priced well at under $80.
Of course, this is the perfect opportunity to dive into your jewelry box and pull out any special occasion piece you are saving. 😉
