10 Women’s Spring Coats to Refresh Your Wardrobe

Every year, when spring rolls back around, it feels like a much-needed breath of fresh air.

Springtime is brighter and lighter, but especially in the early days of spring, the weather can be unpredictable.

As tempting as it might be to go straight for shorts, skirts, and lightweight fabrics, it’s a good idea to keep some layering pieces on hand.

Coats are the perfect layering pieces for transitional weather. But when was the last time you updated your coat collection?

I’ve compiled a list of women’s spring coats that are perfect for refreshing your wardrobe.

10 Women’s Spring Coats to Refresh Your Wardrobe

GAP Factory Modern Trench Coat

Modern Trench

Gap Factory

Your wardrobe isn’t complete without a classic khaki trench coat.

The Modern Trench Coat is one of my best early spring finds from GAP Factory. I included it in my collection of spring wardrobe basics

It makes it easy to add a touch of elegance to my outfit, no matter whether I’m running errands in a casual lounge set or dressed up for a dinner date.

You’ll love the fit of this trench coat too. It’s available in XS – XXL.

It’s usually $119 but right now you can get it for $83.99.

Alternatively, this option from J.Crew is more expensive, but has plus and petite sizes available. It also comes in additional colors if you prefer black, navy or olive as your neutral.

J.Crew Factory Resin-Coated Twill Field Jacket

J.Crew Factory

Last spring, I wrote about my love for versatile field jackets. A year later and it still rings true.

A field jacket, or utility jacket, is a super versatile layering piece that pulls your outfit together.

The Factory Resin-Coated Twill Field Jacket from J.Crew Factory is perfect for cool spring weather.

You can wear it with jeans, white pants, a casual dress, or shorts.

It’s ordinarily $148 but right now it’s 41% off so you can get it for $88. It comes in sizes XXS – 3X, classic and petite.

Kut from the Kloth Jacqueline Denim Jacket

KUT from the Kloth

I can’t talk about spring jackets without including a classic denim jacket.

Denim jackets offer supreme versatility. They’re essential for transitioning from winter to spring, although they can easily be worn year-round.

For a classic, casual look, you can style it with a striped top, olive green pants, and white sneakers

You can also throw it on over an LBD or shorts. There’s very little that you can’t wear a denim jacket with.

The Jacqueline Denim Jacket is $89 and available in XXS – XXL.

I also like the Old Navy Classic Jean Jacket, in XS – 4X, in regular, tall and petite for $39.99.

Chico’s Coated Denim Jacket

Coated Denim Jacket

I was thrilled when I discovered the coated jacket. It’s perfect for when you want to wear jeans and a denim jacket but not “double denim.” Fun fact, I only recently learned where the origins of the “Canadian Tuxedo” came from.

And many of you picked up the now sold out option from KUT from the Kloth this past fall. So here’s your not to keep in in rotation moving into spring.

A coated denim jacket can be styled the same way as a classic denim jacket. It’s perfect for adding a little something extra to your outfit.

Now, listen, I am not a Chico’s shopper, and I probably never will be. Most of the inventory is too matronly for my liking. BUT I do like their coated denim jacket, available in 4/6 – 20/22 on sale right now for $79.99. Size down.

Banana Republic Factory Vegan Leather Double-Breasted Blazer

Vegan Double Breasted Blazer

Banana Republic Factory

The Vegan Leather Double-Breasted Blazer from Banana Republic Factory is one of my favorite pieces for spring.

As I looked for a neutral blazer in a classic cut, I narrowed it down to jackets that were versatile but also unique.

This slightly oversized blazer is buttery soft and has padded shoulders to give it an edge, no matter how you wear it.

It’s available for $72 plus an extra 20% off at check out sizes XXS – XXL.

If you want a genuine leather option, Quince has a gorgeous style in black or brown for $200.

Quince 100% Organic Cotton Knit Blazer

100% Organic Cotton Blazer

As I continue to wait for the reader-favorite Eloise Sweater Blazer from J.Crew to be restocked, I’ve turned my attention to the Cotton Knit Blazer from Quince.

Many readers actually prefer this blazer because it’s 100% cotton. I appreciate its versatility, not to mention how comfortable it is worn over a tee or tank.

It looks chic worn with jeans, pants, or even a lounge set.

Quince’s 100% Organic Cotton Knit Blazer is available in 11 colors (I’m partial to the camel) and sizes XS – XL.

I also like this “school boy” style from J.Crew Factory with a single button front in four colors.

Barbour Heron Waterproof Jacket

Barbour Heron Waterproof Jacket

Depending on where you live, you probably see a good amount of rain during the spring season.

A quality waterproof jacket will not only keep you dry but elevate your look, even when it’s pouring rain.

The Barbour Heron Waterproof Jacket is an investment piece, and it’s worth every penny.  This is my “splurge” piece for the season. The cut and length are ideal, I think it will be a fantastic addition to my “sports mom” wardrobe.

It’s available in dark navy and light green, in sizes 4 – 14.

If you can’t stomach spending $300+ on a rain jacket, Old Navy has a much more affordable option that’s just as chic and sophisticated.

The Water-Resistant Hooded Utility Jacket is available in light brown and cream, both of which would work great as a neutral third layer.

It comes in regular, tall, and petite, in sizes XS – 4X.

J.Crew Factory Tweed Lady Jacket

Twee Lady Jacket

J.Crew Factory

A good tweed jacket is an essential business casual separate. It instantly adds a touch of elegance to your look.

The Tweed Lady Jacket from J.Crew Factory is the perfect elevated layering piece for spring.

It’s available in 00 – 24 for $148 (regularly $218)

Abercrombie LuxeLoft Crew Sweater Jacket

Sweater Jacket

Yes, women over 40 can shop at Abercrombie. It’s not the same Abercrombie you shopped at decades ago.

A perfect example: the LuxeLoft Crew Sweater Jacket.

It hits at your waist and works just as well as a layering piece as it does a statement piece.

It’s $76.50, 15% off its original price of $90. It comes in XXXS – XL.

Available in gray, solid white, and three different stripe options (black, navy, and taupe). I size up one.
