The Best Beauty Products for Summer

My idea of summer beauty is natural, pretty, and effortless. I want to let my freckles shine and my skin breathe a bit after a long winter.

But fighting the heat and sun exposure adds a few extra obstacles to consider.

So today, I’m sharing my favorite beauty products for summer that will help you look flawless, smooth, and safely sun-kissed with minimal effort.

The Best Beauty Products for Summer

Bali Body Medium to Dark Instant Tan + Brush Bundle

Starting strong with one of my all-time favorite products, the Bali Body Instant Tan.

In the summer I get regular spray tans and/or self-tan on my own (the Loving Tan 2-Hour Express Mouse is still my go-to), but in a pinch, which has been more usual lately, I’ll spray on the Bali Body Instant Tan on my arms, legs, and neck, and it does the trick.

This is not a gradual self-tanner; instead, it’s like body makeup. It goes on dark and stays put until you wash it off—and I mean you have to scrub this off your body—so you don’t have to worry about it transferring to your clothes.

Now, I wouldn’t recommend using this if you’re planning to spend the day poolside. But if you’re like me, fair-skinned and looking to add a little life to your limbs in a dress or shorts, this is the perfect solution.

Apply to clean dry skin. I spray the formula on a self-tan mitt and then buff it onto my body with the included brush.

ISDIN Mineral Brush Powder

This next one is pricey but worth it.

The ISDIN Mineral SPF 50 Brush Powder is ideal to keep in your bag and makes reapplying sunscreen to your face a breeze. You can apply it on top of makeup throughout the day, and the powder gives a little coverage, with a matte finish that isn’t cakey.

European Wax Center Ingrown Hair Serum

If you struggle with ingrown hairs, there is no better product.

European Wax Center Ingrown Hair Serum is fabulous for sensitive skin. Not only will it prevent ingrown hairs when used after waxing or shaving, but if you have some, apply this, and they will disappear quickly.

Simply apply this to your problem area and you’ll be chafe-free and comfortable.

Kopari KP Body Bumps Be Gone Exfoliating Body Scrub

I use the Kopari KP Body Bumps Be Gone Exfoliating Body Scrub all year long but it’s especially helpful in the summer and big part of my sunless tan skin prep.

When I don’t use it I get awful bumps on my legs, especially on my shins. And the tanning formula only makes them look worse.

So I scrub the night before with this and my legs are smooth and bump free.

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Shimmer Multi-Purpose Dry Oil

I first discovered Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Shimmer Oil in a French pharmacy on my first trip to Paris. I’ve picked up a few bottles since then and only use it in the warm weather for occasions like summer parties or dressed up on a kid-free trip in places like Miami or Vegas.

A little goes a very long way and is just a fun extra to add some literal sparkle to your sun-kissed skin.

ILIA – Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40

I don’t change out all of my make up in the summer but I do swap my foundation. This winter I started using the Armani Illuminating Silk Foundation and it is stunning.

But I’ve been a long time fan of Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint with SPF 40.

It’s light as air, gives enough coverage to minimize redness and blemished but still shows your skin and stays put all day.

Liquid Lash™ Extensions Mascara

If the heat does a number on your mascara, consider the Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara for Thrive Causemetics.

I’ve been using this for years.

It’s fantastic and perfect in the summer heat because it’s a “tubbing mascara.” This means it forms tiny polymer tubes around each lash, which can help with separation, hold, and longevity and makes it less likely to smudge, flake, or smear, even if you sweat or cry.

Native Whole Body Deodorant Spray

I brought the Native Whole Body Deodorant Spray with me down to Florida last week, when I spent five days melting in 100 degree heat and I’m so happy I did.

Now, I still use my normal deodorant under my arms, I’m a big fan of the Donna Karan Cashmere Mist but I sprayed this everywhere else and kept it with me during the day to reapply.

It kept me feeling and smelling fresh and has a lovely (and much needed) cooling effect.

I ordered more to have on hand and threw one in each of my girls sports bags.

Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm, SPF 25

Finally, there are hundreds of great lip balms out there, and I probably have most of them, like Linage and Summer Friday which I love, but at the end of the day if you want a straightforward, moisturizing, soothing balm with SPF, go with the Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm, SPF 25.

It has a fresh, minty flavor, with no tint, and is only $10.

A caveat with the Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm, SPF 25: It contains sunscreen ingredients (Avobenzone, Octinoxate) that are not reef safe or skin safe, for that matter. I certainly wouldn't put it on my lips. Best to opt for a mineral sunscreen SPF--of which I'm still on the hunt. Years I ago I found Naked Zinc Lip Balm Sunscreen, NOT to be confused with Naked Bee, which contains ill-advised Avobenzone, Homosalate, Octisalate, and Octocrylene.

Is there any way you can be contacted via email other than after a particular post? Just wondered. Also, how many days per week do you post new content?
