The 2025 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is here—and if you’re already feeling overwhelmed, I get it. It’s a lot. But it’s also one of the few sales that’s actually worth the hype—if you shop it strategically.
This annual event features brand-new merchandise and Nordstrom exclusives across clothing, shoes, beauty, accessories, and even home. These aren’t clearance items—this is new-season inventory, marked down before it goes back up to full price.
While you’ll see plenty of sweaters, coats, and boots, there are also tons of year-round staples, including jeans, dresses, everyday basics, and some solid wardrobe-building accessories.
And the discounts are real—30% to 40% off. If you’ve got a few holes in your wardrobe or have been eyeing something you’ve wanted to splurge on, this is the time.
My Approach This Year
This year, I’m approaching the sale a little differently.
I focused primarily on better and premium brands—labels that offer consistent quality, great fit, and long-term value. With just a few exceptions, I’ve intentionally skipped most of Nordstrom’s in-house and private label brands, like Caslon, Halogen, and Zella. Why? Because frankly, the quality has really declined over the years, and I can’t confidently recommend them.
Instead, I’ve narrowed it down to standout pieces from brands that hold up, wear well, and make sense in a real-life wardrobe.
Yes, It’s Overwhelming—Even for Me
Every year, I shop the sale until my eyes cross and my fingers cramp, combing through hundreds of pages of product listings so you don’t have to.
I use our reader insights, analytics, and years of styling experience to create curated roundups that cut through the noise and focus on what’s actually worth it.
Because honestly? A lot of it isn’t. Everything starts to look the same after a while. That’s why I take a highly edited approach and only recommend what I’d stand behind as a stylist.
What’s Worth It (and What’s Not) in 2025
- ✅ Coats & Outerwear
One of the strongest categories this year. Great quality, timeless styles, and smart investments if you need to upgrade your fall and winter layers. - ✅ Bags and Leather Goods
10/10, really good options and great savings. - ✅ Shoes
Always a strong category, and this year is no different. You’ll find elevated basics, better sneakers, and a few standout boots. - ✅ Dresses
Pretty good, though rather conservative in style. You’ll find some elevated options that work now and transition easily into fall. - ✅ Sweaters
Maybe their best assortment in a while, I found a lot to love. - ➖ Denim
This is hit or miss but worth sharing depending on what you’re looking for. - ❌ Tops
It’s the same every year, nothing looks new or fresh, and I personally went into this needing tops! - ❌ Bottoms
They all look the same, the brands are boring. I shared a few that are worth mentioning but that’s it. - ❌ Accessories
Disappointing this year. Nothing stood out enough to include.
Overall takeaway:
It’s just too much. I looked at every single item, and honestly, so much of it just isn’t worth your time or money—especially in categories like tops and bottoms, where even a quick trip to Old Navy would leave you with better options at a fraction of the price.

Let’s breakdown my favorites:
Best of Coats and Jackets

Coats are always a strong category. This year I’m excited to see a mix of classic styles with a few more novel options sprinkled throughout.
On my list? This LAUREN RALPH LAUREN | Belted Wool Blend Wrap Coat, on sale for $239.99. I’m 5’10 so I can pull off the length and I think it will look so chic with dark jeans in the fall and winter.
I need a new Barbour – nothing is wrong with my old one except I bought it mid-weight loss and doesn’t fit as well. I think I’m going to get their Fiddich Waxed Cotton Coat in navy, originally $400 now $269 – a GREAT deal.
I’m also eyeing the Elsie Water & Wind Repellent Puffer Jacket from Save the Duck for under $200 – it’s very sporty. And the Billy Hooded Raincoat from Hunter is the kind of jacket you’ll have for years, is on sale for $129.
There are a ton of other deals, like this one from Frank & Eileen, this “dove” color tie waist coat from Bernardo for only $150, and this suede option from Lauren Ralph Lauren is fall perfection.
Best of MAISON de SABRÉ

I am most excited about the sale picks from MAISON de SABRÉ. I flipping LOVE this brand.
What I WANT is one of each, what is in my cart is: the Mini Leather Soft Tote in pecan. It has a crossbody strap so you can be hands free and it’s just so chic. And I would love to have a life the required a sophisticated duffle – it I did I’d scoop this right up.
There small leather goods are also lovely, and make great gifts. The Zipper Card Holder is under $100 in a variety of colors. And their luggage tags are about $50 and also come in a rainbow of colors.
Best of Bags

We created a separate category for additional bags this year, and I’m thrilled to see elevated options from brands like Longchamp and Coach—classic styles at a savings.
This is a stunning leather tote from Coach with almost $150 savings. We love this Longchomp City Tote in Plum for under $200. And this woven clutch will go with so many things and add some texture for under $100.
Best of Shoes

There is something for everyone here.
These Veronica Beard boots and Loeffler Randall sandals are both on my wish list—and I can almost guarantee they’ll sell out fast. If you’re looking to add a few higher-quality pairs to your wardrobe, these are beautiful options—one for now, one for later.
Search by your favorite brand, I rounded up some top reader favorites below:
Best of Denim

The denim selection leaves a lot to be desired. Mother Denim will definitely sell out quickly, though I’m not the biggest fan of the silhouettes they’re featuring this year. I might try their wide leg style: the Hustler Roller Sneak.
And I do like the AG Brinley Mid Rise Classic Straight Leg Jeans.
These are the styles that stood out:
Best of Sweaters

I do like the sweater selection. We focused on (mostly) natural fibers and unique details.
The Athena Stripe Cotton Johnny Collar Polo Sweater from Rails went right onto my wishlist, as did the Anita Wool Blend Turtleneck Sweater from Barbour.
But there is a surprisingly nice mix of basics and novelty styles in a range of price points:
Best of Tops

“Tops” aka anything not a sweater are just okay. I was hoping for a lot more but it honestly looks the same every year.
Out of all the inventory I liked seven items:
Best of Dresses

There are an overwhelming number of not-so-great dresses this year. I had hoped to snag a few Farm Rio pieces, but somehow they picked the ugliest prints and styles from what I think is one of the brand’s prettiest seasons.
That said, the dresses we do like are structured, classic, and very Kate Middleton—which is definitely a good thing.
Best of Intimates

It’s always a good idea to take a few minutes and look through their intimates, one of the brands you love and wear will be featured. Like Hanky Panky thongs (you want the original not the low rise), Natori bras, and your favorite pajamas.
Best of Bottoms

Finally, the most disappointing category this year was bottoms. Pants, trousers, skirts—they were all a total snoozefest. Maybe it’s just a tough category to get right, but I was hoping for more style, updated cuts, and better variety of brands and sizes—especially with fall around the corner.
That said if you like Eileen Fisher, her classic straight leg pants are part of the sale, and very much like this chocolate brown midi skirt from Rails.
Here’s what we found that are good basics in a range of sizes, and we’ll add as we find more.
