I like to think of my content in two categories. The Well Dressed Life is where I publish evergreen articles, broader style advice, and recommendations designed to be helpful long after they’re first posted.
Substack, on the other hand, is more personal. It’s where I share essays straight from the heart — the kind that don’t always fit neatly on The Well Dressed Life — along with specific style content focused on what I’m buying, trying, wearing, and loving in real time.
Most of what I share on Substack is free for all readers, with a few select articles behind a paywall for our paid community. You’ll also find shorter-lived content there — like flash sales or quick style notes — that don’t have a long enough shelf life to live here on The Well Dressed Life.
Together, the two platforms balance each other: one offers structure and timeless resources, while the other feels like pulling up a chair at my kitchen table.
Before we dive into September (and all the fall style fun ahead), I wanted to take a moment to look back at what resonated most with you in August. One post in particular — Before You Shop for Fall, Ask Yourself This — became our top post of the entire summer, which tells me so many of us are craving more clarity and intention in our closets.
Beyond that, August was full of helpful guides and thoughtful conversations. Below, you’ll find a roundup of the blog posts and Substack essays you read, shared, and loved the most — plus a look at the best sellers you shopped most in August at the very end.
The Well Dressed Life Favorites
Fall Wardrobe Capsules

We officially kicked off our Fall Wardrobe Capsules in August, and you were here for it. The Old Navy Fall Capsule was by far the most-read post of the month — no surprise, since it’s full of timeless basics at affordable prices. Many of the pieces are still on sale, making it a smart time to shop if you missed it the first time around.
Along with Old Navy, we also launched capsules for Quince, J.Crew, and Ann Taylor — each featuring updated fall staples you can mix, match, and wear on repeat. If there are other brands you’d love to see, drop them in the comments and we’ll work on building those out next.
How to Figure Out Your Wardrobe Essentials

Another post that’s been surging in popularity as we head into a new season is How to Figure Out Your Wardrobe Essentials. This guide walks you through how to define the core pieces that make your closet actually work for your real life — and it’s clear many of you are turning to it right now as you prepare for fall.
Before You Shop for Fall, Ask Yourself This

This post ended up being our top post of the entire summer. Before You Shop for Fall, Ask Yourself This struck a chord as we eased into fall shopping, serving as a reminder to pause before hitting checkout and really consider why you’re buying something. The goal isn’t just to add more to your closet — it’s to shop with clarity, so every piece supports your personal style and lifestyle.

I Gained Weight. I Lost It. Here’s What Happened.

This was one of the most vulnerable essays I’ve shared — and I was honestly nervous to hit publish. The response completely floored me. So many of you reached out to say it resonated, that you felt seen in your own experiences with body changes, and that you appreciated the honesty.
Perimenopause. Really, Now?

This essay was another one that sparked a big response. Perimenopause is such a universal — yet often unspoken — chapter of life, and sharing our stories around it feels so important. The comments and messages reminded me how many of us are walking through the same changes, often quietly, and how much comfort there is in knowing we’re not alone.

Exclusive to our paid membership, this monthly series has quickly become a community favorite — and one of my favorite projects to put together. Each edition is filled with honest reviews of the beauty products I’ve actually finished, whether they’re worth repurchasing, or better left behind.

The Decluttering Reset I Do Every Mid-Summer

In August, I also shared a peek into my mid-summer decluttering reset — the simple routine I use to clear out the extra stuff that builds up during busy seasons. It resonated with so many of you who are also craving a little breathing room at home, and the comments were full of great ideas and encouragement.
August Best Sellers
Of course, no monthly roundup would be complete without sharing the pieces you shopped and loved the most. These best sellers were community favorites in August — the items that stood out, sold quickly, and are already getting repeat wear. If you missed them the first time around, here’s your chance to take another look.
Looking Ahead to September
September always feels like a fresh start — new routines, new rhythms, and of course, new style inspiration. I have so much I can’t wait to share with you this month: more fall wardrobe capsules, affordable beauty finds, and a few personal essays that have been tugging at me to write.
Thank you, truly, for reading, sharing, and being part of this community. Whether you’re here for the style advice on The Well Dressed Life or the personal reflections on Substack (or both), your presence means the world. Here’s to a stylish, intentional, and inspiring fall together.
