About The Well Dressed Life

Megan Kristel, personal stylist and founder of The Well Dressed Life

I’m Megan Kristel, and this is where I share real-life style advice for women over 40.

I started my career as a retail buyer, deciding what a store would carry, in which sizes, and how much of it. Then I founded Kristel Closets, a personal styling business I ran for ten years, dressing more than 1,000 women with very different lives, bodies, and budgets. For years I also traveled the country speaking to companies about dress and appearance. Now I put all of that into writing.

What I learned from all those closets is simple. Getting dressed gets easier when your wardrobe fits the life you actually live.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Splurge, Spend, Save: one piece at three price points, so you know where to invest and where to save.
  • What to Buy At: the best of a single retailer, edited down to what’s worth your time.
  • Three Ways to Wear: one piece styled for real days.
  • Wardrobe guides and tools like the Lifestyle Diagram and the Style Vision Board, for building a closet around your real schedule.
  • Beauty and life: the products and habits that earn a place in my routine.

How I Choose What I Recommend

Every pick is one I’d make to a client. I look for natural fibers wherever possible, the widest size range I can find from brands I trust, and a mix of price points. Readers have trusted my recommendations for more than a decade, and I don’t take that trust lightly.

Beyond the Site

Put Together is my Substack. The site is where I tell you what to buy and how to wear it. Put Together is where I write about the rest: style, beauty, home, and the small things that make an ordinary week better.

You’ll find personal essays, stories from my years as a stylist, and the real-life finds I’m actually using. Most of it is free, and it comes straight to your inbox. Read Put Together

Getting dressed should feel easier. That’s what everything here is for.
