Weekend Inspiration: Sporty in Gray

Weekend Inspiration Olive Pants

Pants, $68; Sneakers, $75; Sweatshirt, $78; Tote, $175; Hat, $24

This week finally feels like we are in the swing of the school year. But as much as I was looking forward to getting back into a routine, I forgot that homework is so tedious. The hours between 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm are a blur. I usually tuck the girls in around 8:30 and get back to work for a few hours, but this week I just didn’t have it in me. I feel behind in work, and a bit overwhelmed. So I’m looking forward to a few days to decompress and regroup. Tonight, Bri and I have a date night planned to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary (you can see us as babies here), I’m having dinner and drinks with a few of my cousins on Saturday, and then the girls have a cross country meet on Sunday morning followed by a family get together. I’m trying to get as caught up as possible today so I can enjoy the weekend and still be ready for that early alarm on Monday morning.

Today’s weekend inspiration would be a great option for the kind of casual Sunday we have planned. Yesterday we featured a jean alternative in olive green. It was a great price and sold out quickly. However, these are a similar color, in a longer length also from Wit & Wisdom. I like that they have a gray undertone and muted feel. I paired them with these slip-on sneakers in a dark olive. We mentioned these in a previous post, and a few readers told me that they loved them. These are by Sperry and are under $100. If you pick them up now, you’ll get a lot of wear out of them this fall.

I love this white sweatshirt. If you look closely, it has lace accents scattered around it. The contrast between the sportiness of the overall look with the overtly feminine lace is fresh and unexpected. For the weekend, I like having a casual tote option. We (me) are always lugging stuff around on the weekends, like a bottle of wine to take to a friends house, pajamas to return after the last sleepover, or crayons and a sketchbook to keep my little one occupied at a dinner. Having something streamlined is a major bonus and helps enhance your overall look. I found this fantastic tote in a pebble gray that works so well with this color combination. It’s also available in several fabulous colors.

Finally, I love a baseball hat this time of year. It’s the best way not to have to fuss with your hair and still look cute. I just pull my hair back, throw on my hat and take 5 seconds to add some mascara and a poppy red lip gloss. This one is $24 at Nordstrom.  It’s also available in an array of colors.

Thanks for reading this week and have a great weekend!!

  1. I’ve been drooling over this sneaker since the I first time I saw you post it. Since it’s payday I splurged and just ordered it in gray – excited!
