Wear to Work: Perfect Office Blouse

It’s not easy finding a blouse that can stand alone in an outfit. Many are sleeveless and require an additional layer, which is fine but feels redundant. Others are too revealing, or too busy.

It seems like when I do find something that will work, it’s hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

I can’t justify that for one top.

So when I found this blouse, I reworked my plans for today’s post to share it.

This pale blue blouse is $69 at Nordstrom and there’s a lot to like about it.

Wear to Work: Navy PantsPants, $100  |  Blouse, $69  |  Pumps, $40  |  Earrings, $35  |  Tote, $90

It comes in three colors: pale blue (above), peach and a vibrant poppy. It’s a little sheer due to the nature of the fabric, so you’ll need a light, inexpensive cami

The v-neck is flattering, the roll sleeves give a casual vibe, and the pleated, pintuck detail on the side adds interest and pulls in the eye, creating a slimming effect.

It’s a versatile piece you’ll wear all spring on the weekends (with white ankle pants and flat sandals) and, of course to the office.

To make it office appropriate, I paired it with these straight legged windowpane pattern trousers.  You can wear these with a solid navy or black pants if that is what you have, but don’t be afraid to use a print in a subtle pattern to add dimension.

These pants are by Ann Taylor, and are currently on sale for around $50 (with a discount given at check out – no code needed). They come in regular and petite from a 0 – 14.

I like a straight leg pant paired with a block heel. Block heels are fantastic if you want height and added comfort.  I found these $40 pumps at DSW in a navy suede. They are available in lots of other colors including classic black, a neutral, a lovely dusty pink and bright red.

For jewelry  I reused these popular earrings we featured a few weeks ago – because that’s how we dress in real life. They are just so pretty and different.

Finally, a simple tote. Recently I’ve noticed a trend in readers requesting rooming totes without a lot of organization inside. This Cole Hann bag in “dove” is a lovely update for spring on sale at Off Fifth for under $100.  If you’d like a little organization, I use this felt purse organizer.  It’s super easy to take it in and out, and nothing gets lost in the bottom of your bag.

I think it’s lovely! I work in a medical office and need to dress professionally/conservatively, and I have the hardest time finding great tops! I have to wear a non- breathable polyester white coat over my clothes, so something in a pretty color but light-weight material is a must! Thank you!

Thanks Alison. It's funny, when I was pulling the look together I was thinking of someone who was either in education or hospital administration. So glad you like it!

Well, "terribly dull" certainly isn't what we're going for, and I'm not sure what you consider frumpy. We are though, trying to serve as many styles and body types as possible. So not every post is going to speak to everyone all the time.

A camisole would be great...I can’t find one to wear with v-necks without it showing!

Did you see the link to the cami in the post? It's under $20 and perfect for v necks. I've also found equally affordable ones at Target.
