An Under $100 Lady Jacket

The “Lady Jacket,” part cardigan, part blazer, is the season’s must-have piece.

They are everywhere, at every price point.

You can dress them up, or down and they come in a range of lengths, so you can pick the best one for your body type – more on that in an upcoming post.

And while they are a classic style with real long-term wearability, they are not in my spend category.

I feel like they are too specific of a piece to spend two or three hundred dollars on. You don’t get a good Cost Per Wear from them at that price point.

I would rather have a few less expensive options for variety instead of just one that I would have to wear all the time to get any real value out of.

I’m sharing today’s feature piece, this Lady Jacket from J.Crew Factory because I know it’s going to sell out before I get to do in depth round up of options

It’s fabulous, under $100, and doesn’t look like you bought it at J.Crew Factory. Also available in black, in sizes XXS – 3X.

Jacket, $80 | Bag: $30 | Jeans: $35 | Tank: 2 for $15 |Boots, (similar) $120

In fact, this whole outfit is built with well fitting classic, affordable pieces.

The jeans are the Mid Rise Baby Boot Jeans from Gap Factory. They are awesome.

Available in short, regular or long lengths in sizes 24 – 35. They are currently promo for $35.

My tank is a from Amazon Essentials, comes in pack of two (I ordered the white and black) for only $15. For a tank that no one is going to see, it more than does the trick.

The bag I’ve shared a dozen times. It’s also from Amazon, for $30 plus right now there is an additional 20% off coupon at checkout. I have this in three colors.

It’s small but fits a card case, phone, keys, a lipstick – the must-haves.

An my ankle boots are Sam Edelman from a few seasons ago.

Madewell has a similar pair in the same color at a comparable price here.

I love this sweater in the camel but it was already sold out. I did order the black but. . . Did this run TTS?

Like the Lady Jacket. There is however, a heated conversation among a few over whether larger body shapes might be better off to stay away from plaids. Some feel they are not flattering on bigger busted and apple shapes. Just wanting your opinion on this.

Personally, the older I become the more I have the attitude if you are comfortable wearing "whatever" then do it and if not then pass on it. So much simplier that way!

I agree with you about wearing whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident. I also don't think just because someone is in a bigger body the ultimate goal should be dressing to look smaller - that doesn't sit well with me. It is nice to know what creates balance and symmetry, we can certainly, if we want to, learn to de-emphasize parts we're not totally comfortable in, but it should be tempered with self expression and having fun with fashion.
