Inside The Well Dressed Life: What to Expect in 2025

With spring just a few weeks away—and all the busy energy that comes with a new season—it feels like the perfect time for a reintroduction.

Whether you’re new here, have been reading for a while but are just starting to feel at home, or have been with me since the very beginning—I’m so glad you’re here. Today, I want to share what you can expect from The Well Dressed Life this year, how I’m evolving and growing the business, and give you a behind-the-scenes look at how everything operates.

Who I Am and Why I Started The Well Dressed Life

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved fashion—not just the clothes, but the way personal style can make us feel confident, capable, and like our best selves.

I spent a decade running a personal styling business, helping women refine their wardrobes, and I saw firsthand how overwhelming fashion can feel. The industry often makes women feel like style is reserved for a certain size, budget, or lifestyle—and that simply isn’t true.

I created The Well Dressed Life to be different. I wanted this to be a place where real women could find real, practical, and thoughtful style advice—without pressure to chase trends or spend a fortune. Just helpful guidance to make getting dressed easier and more enjoyable.

The Heart of The Well Dressed Life

The Well Dressed Life will remain the same trusted space for practical, polished style advice, published Tuesday through Friday, with exclusive weekend content—including our Saturday Email and Sunday Sales.

This year, I’m focusing on deeper articles, more curated recommendations, and unsponsored reviews, all while improving site navigation—with a website facelift coming soon to make everything easier to find!

I know how exhausting it is to sift through the noise of the fashion industry, where you’re constantly being told to buy more, look younger, or follow every passing trend. That’s not what we do here. Instead, we focus on:

Curated recommendations that actually make sense for your life and budget
Practical styling tips that you can use immediately
A no-BS approach to fashion—because you don’t need to overhaul your closet (unless you want to) to feel stylish
A space that respects your time, intelligence, and hard-earned money

What I’m Focusing on in 2025

This year, I’m making some shifts in how and where I create content.

After 20 years of talking only about fashion, beauty, and personal style, I know I can’t spend the next 20 doing the exact same thing. Like all of you, I’m multifaceted—my interests extend far beyond hemlines and handbags—and I want my work to reflect that.

For years, I’ve built The Well Dressed Life into a place where women over 40 can find realistic, stylish fashion advice—no fluff, no gimmicks, just practical recommendations that help you look and feel your best. And that’s not changing—in fact, it’s only getting better.

But fashion is just one part of a much bigger conversation.

My experience working with women for the last 20 years has given me a unique perspective on what we really need—what we’re thinking about, what we’re navigating, and the conversations we don’t always get to have.

That’s why I created my Substack—a space that goes beyond style to explore what it really means to be a modern woman in midlife.

It’s about creating a life that feels true to who we are now—not who we were in our 20s or who the world tells us we should be.

👉 Think of The Well Dressed Life as the shopping trip and Substack as the conversation we have over lunch afterward.

On Substack, we’ll dive into:
✨ How we define ourselves beyond our roles as moms, partners, and professionals
✨ Why midlife can feel both liberating and unsettling at the same time
✨ Navigating friendships, family dynamics, careers, and self-growth in this phase of life
✨ The pressure to “have it all together” when, honestly, no one really does
✨ How to create a life that reflects our true values, desires, and priorities

Yes, I’ll talk about personal style sometimes, but this space is about what’s on our minds, not just what’s in our closets.

I’m also hosting my 28-Day Style Challenge exclusively on Substack. It’s a dense, content-packed program that needed a dedicated space, free from traditional blog formatting. If you’re looking for a structured, actionable way to refresh your wardrobe and refine your style, you’ll love this series!

And let me be clear—you do not have to join Substack. The Well Dressed Life will remain exactly as it is.

But I do ask that you be kind and respect my decision to grow my business and explore new areas. I love writing, and I’m excited to build something that allows me to share more than just fashion.

How This Business Runs

This isn’t just a blog—it’s a business, a full-time job, and a career I’ve built over the last 20 years. But it’s also a community, and I feel fiercely protective of the women who come here.

Running The Well Dressed Life requires revenue, and here’s how that works:

Ads – Yes, ads are on the site. They are placed via my ad agency, Mediavine, and they are the primary way we generate revenue. Without them, The Well Dressed Life does not exist. Mediavine is widely considered the industry standard for digital ad management so I’m extremely grateful to be part of their community of publishers.

Affiliate Links – When I recommend products, I often use commissionable links. If you purchase through those links, I earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you.

But let me be clear: My business has no foundation if you don’t trust these recommendations. If what I suggest isn’t valuable or doesn’t serve you, this entire thing falls apart. I want your experience shopping via The Well Dressed Life to be one of reliance—I want you to feel like, “Meg recommends it, so it’s probably great.

Now, will every single item be a perfect fit for every single person? No—because that’s just the nature of personal style. But the average should be really good. I take your trust seriously, and I don’t recommend anything I wouldn’t personally wear, buy, or gift myself.

Sponsored Content – Over the years, I’ve taken on sponsored partnerships, but moving forward, I’m making a shift away from them. The reality is that creating sponsored content is time-consuming and doesn’t significantly impact my bottom line. Instead of pouring my energy into time-intensive partnerships, I’d rather focus on creating high-value content for you.

That said, I’m not saying I’ll never do one. I have great relationships with a handful of brands that I know you love, and when the right opportunity comes along, I’ll consider it. But my priority is always making sure my time and resources are spent in ways that benefit this community the most.

ShopMy & Amazon Storefront – Many of you asked for a central place to find my recommendations, so I joined ShopMy and updated my Amazon Storefront for easy browsing.

Substack – My newest platform is completely ad-free and unsponsored, designed for deeper conversations beyond fashion. It’s where I explore personal style mindset shifts, wellness, and life in midlife—plus, it’s home to my 28-Day Style Challenge. You can subscribe for free or choose a paid membership to unlock full access to all premium content.

Thank You for Being Here

Since the inception of The Well Dressed Life, I’ve taken on more and more—just figuring it out along the way.

This has always been a one-woman show, and while I’ve known for years that I needed help, I’m only now feeling clear on what kind of support I need first. My goal is to bring on my first real employee by this summer, which is both exciting and a big step forward. That said, running The Well Dressed Life—from content creation to managing the business side—is a huge lift, and I truly appreciate your patience and support as I continue to grow.

I don’t take this community for granted for a second. In a world that constantly tells us we’re either too much or not enough, I want every space I create to be one where you feel seen, supported, and inspired.

I hope this inside look at The Well Dressed Life gives you a better understanding of how online businesses like mine operate and why I make the choices I do.

My goal is always to keep this space valuable, relevant, and inspiring for you.

Thank you for being here, for trusting me, and for allowing me to be part of your day. I’m so excited for what’s ahead!

Meg! A friend recommended you to me back in 2021, and you saved me from a closet full of sad florals I didn’t even like πŸŒΈπŸ‘—. You also helped pull me out of my infertility to postpartum dressing rut πŸ‘šβœ¨. Now, I absolutely love my closet πŸ’ƒ and can get dressed with ease every morning β˜€οΈπŸ™Œ! Thank you so much πŸ’–. I’m still hoping for a Philly-area meetup 🀞🍽️. I absolutely love Well Dressed Life! πŸ‘πŸ’«β€

Thanks for the update. Follow your dream and your heart's desire - while also being practical as a mom with three kids (one about to leave and change the family dynamic!) We all need change after a 20yr span at doing something!
