How to Wear the J.Crew Gauze Popover

When I saw that the Gauze Popover Shirt was the best seller from  Monday’s What to Buy at J.Crew post, I was not at all surprised.

It’s just a great top, filling the void you might have when you want something just a little bit better than a tee shirt.

Something you can wear in the same way that takes the look up a notch.

So today, we’re going share three ways to wear it right through the summer.

And this time, I’m showing it in three different colors, to highlight your options.

I love the variety of looks here, using some regularly featured items and some new ones.

With White Jeans

Pink Gauze shirt, white jeans, tan bag, and tan t-strap heels

Gauze Popover Shirt, $79.50 | High Waisted Ankle Jeans, $40 | T-Strap Wedges, $110| Vegan Crossbody Bag, $67

We love white jeans around here, they just freshen everything up.

For this look, I’m using the Old Navy Ankle Jeans, available in regular, tall and petite, from 00 – 30.

These are the best priced options of the three white jeans I recommend. And you’ll see in our Private Facebook Group, our members love them too.

On sale for $40 with 25% off at checkout

Then, I wanted to give the look height while keeping it casual, so I reused the VIONIC T-Strap Wedges, a reader recommended brand for anyone who wants comfort focused style.

And for a bag, this adorable vegan leather crossbody, with a wood-like handle, on sale at Macy’s for $66

With Shorts

Navy Gauze shirt, khaki shorts, cognac leather sandals, and gold hoop earrings

Gauze Popover Shirt, $79.50 | 5″ Stretch Chino Shorts, $59.50 | Leather Sandals, $155 | Gold Hoops, $14

This is a great example of how this particular top replaces a basic tee shirt and elevates to look.

The texture of the gauze, and the trip detail adds some extra depth and substance.

I used the J.Crew Chino Shorts, these are the 5″ version but you can go shorter or longer depending on your preference.

To ground the look and elevate it, these gorgeous leather flats from Tuckernuck, and our favorite Amazon hoops

With a Skirt

White gauze top, black floral midi shirt, black leather sandals, and a black woven bag

Gauze Popover Shirt, $79.50 | Button Front Skirt, $69 | Miller Leather Sandals, $228 | Woven Shoulder Bag, $27

Cute, right?

Finally, we grabbed a skirt. I love the color in the print on this one, with a 90s inspired midi skirt.

To make this look work, you’ll want to try to tuck the shirt in, either all the way or half. You have to play with it to see what looks best. There is no one sized fits all trick.

Then, keep it casual with our favorite Tory Burch Miller Leather Sandals and grab this under $30 Woven Shoulder Bag

If you need a layer, add your denim jacket.
