This week’s top seller comes from our weekly Sunday Sales round-up.
We featured the Old Navy Quarter-Zip Sweater, and you loved it!
It makes sense; it’s a classic style in three easy-to-wear colors: grey, green, and antique white. Sizes range from XS – 4X in regular, tall, and petite.
And it’s on sale with 30% taken off at checkout.
On the surface, it’s a simple, throw-on with jeans and boots kind of sweater.
And sometimes you need that!
But, today, we have three styled looks for you, using other popular items from recent posts to show you how something as basic as a sweater from Old Navy can bring real value to your wardrobe
Old Navy Quarter-Zip Sweater
Rib-Knit Quarter-Zip Sweater, $55 with an extra 30% OFF at checkout.
Seriously, it’s cute on its own.
I like that it hits right at your hips. Pop the collar, zhush up your sleeves and wear with your favorite jeans and ankle boots.
But of course, we have more options for you!
Three Ways to Style the Old Navy Quarter-Zip Sweater
As a Layer
Flannel Shirt, $46.50 | Slim Straight Jeans, $40 | Veja Sneakers, $165
I have shared these pieces over the last month, so if you already have them, here is another way to work with them.
This navy plaid flannel shirt from J.Crew Factory is another Reader Favorite in September. Available in classic and petite in XXS – 3X. You can buy your true size but go up one if you are in between.
Note you’ll want to tuck the shirt into your jeans so the sweater layers over it neatly.
And speaking of jeans, I’m using our go-to slim-straight leg jeans from Old Navy and 30% off at checkout. Wear your best-fitting skinny or straight-leg jeans here.
Finally, I absolutely love these two-tone Veja Sneakers. I find them super comfortable and cute.

With Coated Jeans
Shoulder Bag, $237 | Coated Skinny Jeans, $99 | Chelsea Boots, $70 | Silver Hoops, $14 | Blanket Scarf, $18.50
Even someone as uncool as me could trick you into thinking I was in this outfit.
More inspiration featuring pieces we love, starting with these coated jeans from KUT from the KLOTH, first featured in the Nordstrom Sale this summer.
Available in brown and black, we’re working with black.
You may have the now sold-out pair from Express or the Banana Republic option from last year; wear either here.
An important distinction is that these, and the other options above, are cut like a jean; they have a waistband and pocket detail, making them a bit more substantial than a legging. Something to consider since the sweater isn’t going to cover your bum.
You’ll pair them with these Chelsea Boots, still on a fantastic sale at Nordstrom. Let the leg of the pant sit inside the boot.
And speaking of fantastic sales, if you need a classic style handbag for fall, RUN, don’t walk for this gorgeous option from Coach, currently 40% off. I ordered it in black, and it just arrived yesterday.
I’m delighted with the style, quality, and functionality.
Then, add some easy accessories. I’m highlighting the popular Amazon hoops in silver and this plaid scarf that is sold out on ASOS, thanks to all of you. If you picked it up, wear it here.

To Work
Straight Leg Pants, $98 | Silk Scarf, $11 | Flats, $145 | Leather Handbag, $299 |Mixed Media Hoops, $78
I want to dive head first into this outfit.
Mixing neutral colors and textures is my favorite way to create an elevated look. It’s a trick you can use to make anything, like an under $50 sweater from Old Navy, look sophisticated.
As a base, we’re using the J.Crew Straight Leg Pants. These are just solid trousers, in a four-season stretch fabric, with lots of color options and great sizes, from 00 – 24 in classic, petite and tall. At retail, they are just under $100.
That’s it! The rest of the look comes together with accessories.
I was happy to see the popularity of this leather bag, available in camel (above) and black.
If you like the look of a scarf, take this $11 (yes, $11) scarf from Amazon and tuck it into your collar.
As for a shoe, I like a ballet flat. So I’m reusing Rothy’s camel and black cap-toe, featured in our Outfit Formula earlier this month.
I wore them last night and was happy I went a half size up. For reference, my foot is on the wider side.
Yes, you can use their more rounded toe option if the point doesn’t work for you.
Finally, I have to highlight these $78 mix-metal hoops from Mejuri; they are just the thing to help bring silver and gold together, a great everyday piece with a lot of interest.
