Yesterday’s best seller is the Herringbone Stitch Sweater Jacket, in your choice of tan or navy, available in regular or petite in XS – XXL.
It’s a lovely cardigan-jacket hybrid, perfect for the office, or a casual day at home.
So today, let’s style it three ways.
In How to Wear it, we take the top-selling item from our weekly What to Buy at feature and share three ways to wear it. We aim to show you how to get the most out of your purchase and build a functional, stylish, and well-edited wardrobe. And we do this by creating wearable looks with easily accessible items, many we regularly feature, so you can see how different pieces work in different ways.
Buttoned Up
Let’s start with a crisp button-down.
Ann Taylor shows this with their own stripe shirt, available in regular and petite sizes in XXS – XXL. I like that there is a specific petite option, but also wanted to find a dupe.
So I found this one from Amazon, in XS – XL, for under $30
Either option is great and versatile. Wear layered under the sweater jacket, in the spring pair with white bottoms, and style with shorts in the summer.
Then, grab your favorite dark wash, straight leg jean. We like this slim-straight from Old Navy for $34.99, plus and extra 30% off at checkout.
For shoes, how cute are these tortoise loafers from Sperry, that complement the buttons on the sweater jacket.
And finish the look with the best selling earrings of 2022, these gold hoops from Amazon that are only $13.
- Striped Button Down Collar Shirt, XS – XL, $27.99
- Sperry Seaport Penny Tortoise Leather, $99.95
- Old Navy High-Waisted Wow Slim Straight Jeans for Women, $34.99
- PAVOI 14K Gold Hoops, $13
Cute and Sporty
Next, let’s make a cute and casual look, starting with this soft long-sleeve top from Faherty.
I only just started buying from Faherty and I have to say, their quality is impressive, though their sizing runs small.
The subtle tan and white stripe of this top works wonderfully here.
Then, another pair of jeans, this one is a light wash in their “Mom Jean” cut, which is another way to say high-waisted with a slim-ish leg. These are available in their standard and plus sizes.
For shoes, if you picked up these trainers from J.Crew last year, they’ll look great here and are currently 30% off of $98.
And then a simple pair of gold studs is all you need. I like this pair of ball studs from Uncommon James for under $40.
- Faherty Cloud™ Long-Sleeve Tee, $49
- Uncommon James Ball Stud Earrings, $38
- Madewell The Mom Jean in Basley Wash, $88
- J.Crew Trainers, $99
Crisp White
I thought an all white look would be fresh and chic.
So we took these straight-leg pants from J.Crew in their Bi-Stretch cotton and paired it with one of their long sleeve tees to create a column.
Here’s a tip: buying ivory, off-white, or any specific color and wanting to use it to create a monochromatic look can be challenging. So while buying the bottom, look for a top in the same color at the same store. For example, these pants are “ivory” at J.Crew, so I typed ivory top in their search box. This ensures you buy from the same dyelot or get a match in a different fabric.
Then, we’re going with these Rothy Loafers. I have this exact pair and can attest to the comfort. I bought my a half-size up and they fit perfectly.
Finally, don’t sleep on Amazon from scarves, they have so many that are make from real silk in countless prints and colors at prices that let you play around guilt-free.
I like this one that mixes ivory, tan and grey in a classic print
. You can loop it around your neck, tie it in your hair, or secure to your handbag.
