How to Wear a Bodysuit

You may have noticed; bodysuits are back in a big way. At first, I didn’t pay much attention to them, figuring it was a fad brought to us by the Kardashians. But then I started getting texts and emails from customers and readers asking if it was “okay” to wear them, so I took a closer look.

No surprise here, most of the options at retail are abysmal. We’re talking plunging necklines and, God help me, cuts that purposely give “side boob.” (Why is that a thing??) But with a little more investigation I found a few that are basically tanks and tee shirts, and realized, I might like them enough to wear one myself.

Bodysuits look best with a higher waisted jean, already a bonus, and a flowy “topper” like the duster trench above or a kimono style cardigan (we will have a few available on Friday). They are also ideal with a higher waist skirt that hugs your body or with a lady like A-line skirt. In any pairing, you don’t have to deal with always tucking and smoothing your top.

For the inspiration look above I went a little on the subtle, sexy side. I would wear this on a date night with the hubby or a fun girls night out. You could go with a distressed jean or a clean, dark skinny, whatever you prefer. In the inspiration look, Chrissy is wearing a strappy sandal with a thin pencil heel. I swapped that for one with a block heel, they are easier to walk in. Finish the look with your favorite clutch; I liked this summer ready bag from ASOS for $26.

What do you think? Anyone trying bodysuits this season?
