Real Life

This is 10

This is Ten

My Maddie turns ten today. I’ve been reflecting a lot over the last few days about how much life has changed, how far we have come as a family, and how much we have all grown. The other night she was sitting in the back of the studio helping me unpack some handbags. I caught a glimpse of her out of the corner of my eye, sitting casually amongst our inventory, and I couldn’t help but start to cry. I was filled with gratitude, and also overwhelmed with relief. I am so relieved and grateful that everything worked out, that I didn’t mess our lives up when I started the business, and that she’s been with me every step of the way.

2017 Goals

At the beginning of each year, I share my goals for the New Year believing that by declaring my intentions I’m more likely to keep them. I spent the last few weeks reflecting on 2016. There are so many reasons to be grateful: a healthy family, happy marriage, great friends and a growing business. I am abundant in blessings.

But last year also brought many opportunities for self-reflection and growth. While I would love nothing more than to blame everyone else for the challenges I may have faced, the grown up thing to do is to find my ownership, learn my lesson, and move on. In doing so, I realized two things: (1) I have to stop caring about what other people think and (2) I must trust and respect my instincts.

My amazing babysitter took this picture of Viv today. 😘Look at how happy she is!
Maybe it’s because I’m a little older this time around but I don’t have any working mom guilt.
For a minute I felt guilty that I didn’t feel guilty.
But then I realized:
My kids are healthy and joyful buggers and they love me and they know I love them.
Plus, they are learning so many real life lessons about hustle and work ethic.
So if you’re scrolling through Insta feeling like your not doing enough for your kids, that you’re not enough for them, or you work too much, or you’re missing too much, I think you’re probably doing a pretty spectacular job.
