August Reader Favorites

Hello September!

At the end of every summer, I marvel at how fast it goes by, but this one in particular flew. Somehow I’m already six months pregnant, and this baby girl will be here well before Christmas. I’m hoping our house is wrapped up by then too. If you want to experience the quickest pregnancy ever, plan on fully remodeling your home. You won’t know where the time goes!

August was an incredible month for the blog with our readership and reach increasing by over 200%! Welcome to everyone new to our community!

Every month we recap our readers’ favorite picks from the month before. It’s a great way to crowdsource the best products and build off of them. This month featured some awesome finds. I’m always so happy to hear from you and discover what products you picked up and hear how much you’re enjoying them. Of course, we’ll continue to feature these in upcoming posts with more seasonal pieces, so you can continue to be inspired and get the most out of your wardrobe.

Check out your favorites from August below:

The Well Dressed Life - August Readers' Favorites

1. Drapey Tank: This is one of the most popular items we’ve ever featured on this site, and for good reason.  The fit is perfect, and it works on its own with jeans or under a blazer. Still lots of sizes and color options available.
2. Cotton Blazer: A transition blazer isn’t always easy to find.  This one at Nordstrom is on sale for under $60 in four colors. You can wear it to work over a sheath or a pair of pants, or on the weekends with jeans and ankle boots.  Can’t wear wool? Consider picking this up now so you can wear it all season long.
3. Classic Ankle Pants.  I make no exaggeration when I say this pants are the greatest. If you like an ankle pant, consider picking these up in navy and black. You can pair them with your favorite blazers or keep it simple with a thin gauge sweater.
4. Simple Cardigan.  Sweater weather in early fall doesn’t mean heavy, bulky knits.  Instead, it’s more about layers. This cacoon cardigan at Target is great with jeans or leggings.  Pick it up in a few colors and layer on all those scarves hanging in your closet that you can’t figure out how to wear. P.S. It’s also a great travel sweater for airplanes!
5. And Another Cardigan Option.  This one is a bit more substantial available in more autumnal colors. The weight and drape of this will work better with heavy or knee high boots.
6. Classic Black Pump. I feel like I’m always recommending these pumps. They’re just a solid shoe, in a timeless shape, at a great price point.  If you don’t need black, you can grab a pop of color. I’m partial to the burgundy and plum suede.
7. Silk Pillow Case. Ladies, I have a 14 year old lab who is always peeing in the house, I’m currently living in a construction site, I’m 38 and 6 months pregnant and I work 60 hours a week. I have NO PROBLEM spending $100 on a silk pillow case, and apparently, neither do you.  Sometimes, it’s the smallest luxury that makes you feel good, like you’re still a person who deserves to be taken care of.  That’s what this pillowcase does, and a bunch of other stuff that’s good for your skin and hair.
8. Hair Dryer and Volumizing Styler. We’ve received incredible feedback about this hair brusher-dryer-volumizer. It’s a game changer if you love the look but hate the drama of a blow out.  You’ll cut your getting ready time in half, and you’re hair will look like you just left the salon, all for under $60.

I bought both the drapery tank (in 3 colors) and love it and also the hair dyer (and I am not good at doing my hair at all) but it is a genius product and even the first time I used it, it looked great. I cheated and found a YouTube video on how to use it. Thank you for making our lives easier by doing the research for us.
