April Book Club Pick: An American Marriage

April Book Club Pick: An American Marriage

Good Morning, Ladies!

Our April Book Club Pick is An American Marriage but Tayari Jones.

Since last month’s book was pretty disappointing, we figured who better than Oprah to help us pick this month’s selection. You can see her quick endorsement here.

Book Club Pick - April - An American Marriage

An American Marriage

An American Marriage has been on my list for a while so I’m excited to read it along with you. I’m flying out to Houston this week and looking forward to few uninterrupted hours of book time (and maybe an upgrade – wouldn’t that be nice?).

Below is a brief description of the book via: Goodreads:

Newlyweds Celestial and Roy are the embodiment of both the American Dream and the New South. He is a young executive, and she is an artist on the brink of an exciting career. But as they settle into the routine of their life together, they are ripped apart by circumstances neither could have imagined. Roy is arrested and sentenced to twelve years for a crime Celestial knows he didn’t commit. Though fiercely independent, Celestial finds herself bereft and unmoored, taking comfort in Andre, her childhood friend, and best man at their wedding. As Roy’s time in prison passes, she is unable to hold on to the love that has been her center. After five years, Roy’s conviction is suddenly overturned, and he returns to Atlanta ready to resume their life together.

Joining our bookclub is super easy. Simply pick up the book, read along with us, and at the end of the month we share our review and have a conversation in the comments.

We’ll share our take on An American Marriage the week of May 1st.

Happy Reading!
