Since the beginning of the year, I’ve lost 40 pounds, which means I’m starting this fall with a wardrobe that no longer fits. I’ve been getting by in jeans that are far too loose and shirts that are oversized—but not in a fun way.
Now that I’ve reached a point where I can’t make what I have work anymore, it’s time for a change.
While it’s a great problem to have, it’s also a challenge—especially when my job relies on me looking put together. You may have noticed I stopped sharing outfit pics, it’s because I very much do not have any outfits.
I’m in a spot where I desperately need new clothes but still have a bit more weight to lose, so I’m not ready to invest in a whole new wardrobe just yet.
That’s where Amazon has been a lifesaver. I’ve been filling in the gaps with affordable pieces and even experimenting with categories I don’t usually buy from them.
So, I thought I’d share some of my finds that are helping me transition into fall while keeping my closet stocked with options that keep me excited about the season’s fashion trends.

KUT from the Kloth Women’s Catherine Boyfriend Jean
I can’t wait to splurge on a few pairs of high-quality jeans once I reach a weight I’m comfortable maintaining. But after recently donating three pairs of almost-new Mother jeans, the thought of spending $200 on denim again feels a little painful—especially without knowing if I’ll get a lot of wear out of them.
In the meantime, I picked up a few affordable options, including the KUT from the Kloth Women’s Catherine Boyfriend Jean. Although they’re labeled as ‘boyfriend jeans,’ they have a classic slim-straight cut that pairs perfectly with flats, heels, or sneakers.
The are super comfortable with great stretch, extra nice if you are like me and working at a desk all day.n
KUT jeans tend to run large and stretch over time, so I recommend sizing down for a better fit.

$55.00Cable Knit Sweater
Another splurge I’m looking forward to is investing in some truly beautiful knits. I haven’t treated myself to quality knitwear in years because I wasn’t happy with my weight, but eventually, I’d love to have a collection of elegant, elevated pieces.
When I was younger, I always thought wearing cashmere at 45 was the ultimate sign that you’d ‘made it,’ so it feels like I’m still on track. lol
For now, I’ve picked up a few Ralph Lauren-inspired cable knit sweaters to pair with jeans, boots, or sneakers—an effortless, everyday uniform.

$24.99Wide Leg Yoga Pants
I bought these bottoms almost two years ago and instantly loved them, so it was a no-brainer to order them in a smaller size for fall.
They’re incredibly comfortable yet polished, and they pair effortlessly with a lightweight sweater or a simple tee. I especially love wearing them on busy work-from-home days when I have back-to-back tasks and a packed afternoon with the kids.
The best part? You can choose from a range of lengths and sizes, from XS to 3X, all for just $34.99.

$34.99Stripped Sweater
I absolutely love this sweater. Grace Karin, an Amazon brand I’ve been gravitating toward, offers casual yet modern styles that feel much more elevated than the usual Amazon finds.
As I always say, you never want to look like you’re wearing Amazon.
I’ll do a standalone feature on some of my other favorites from this brand soon, but this sweater is a perfect example of their chic pieces—something I’d buy no matter the state of my closet.
It’s available in four color options, sizes S-XL, for $32.00 with an additional 30% off coupon.

$32.99Cropped Shacket
I honestly thought the shacket trend had run its course, but I’m fully on board with its return in a cropped length. It feels fresh, seasonally appropriate, and offers a much more flattering fit.
I personally prefer solid neutrals, as the plaid options are starting to feel a bit dated. I picked this one up in gray, but it’s also available in black, brown, and rust.

$37.48Wide Leg Trouser
This fall, I’m breaking out of my jeans-and-leggings rut—I need more variety in my wardrobe.
I decided to go for these affordable wide-leg trousers, and they offer plenty of options. First, you can choose from a range of seasonal colors, whether you prefer neutrals or want to go bold with shades like pink or green.
They come in sizes S to XL, with regular, short, or tall lengths available. You can also pick between a thick or thin fabric, depending on the look you want.
Even if I wasn’t trying to build a temporary wardrobe, I wouldn’t splurge on bottoms like these—I’d absolutely keep it under $50. I opted for the ‘thin’ fabric for a more elegant drape and chose khaki in the long length.

$38.55Open Front Cardigan
Another versatile piece I’m absolutely loving is this open-front cardigan. It’s perfect for those chilly mornings—easy to throw on over a simple white tee, black leggings, and sneakers. I can handle school drop-off, grab a coffee, and when I inevitably run into someone before 8 a.m., I don’t look like a bridge troll!
Available in two dozen colors, I chose the light brown (pictured). It comes in sizes XS to XXL, but keep in mind it runs large, so consider sizing down, especially if you’ll be layering it over lighter pieces.
