This season’s must-have item is the shacket, a mix between, you guessed it, a shirt and a jacket. My 14-year-old thinks these are a cool new thing. I don’t have the heart to tell her that I wore a version of these when I was her age in the 90s.
Now, as a 40-something-year-old mom, these guys make a lot of sense. They are ideal for brisk days when you want an extra layer but not a heavy coat.
Throw them over a basic white tee or a bodysuit, boots, and your favorite jeans, and create an updated look with minimal effort.
5 “Shackets” Under $100
Today, we’re featuring five options, all under $100, in a range of sizes.
Consider these for your annual day at the pumpkin patch, running endless errands during the week, grabbing lunch with a friend, or even wear it to your casual office.
BlankNYC
BlankNYC, $98
Many shackets are oversized on purpose, but I like a slimmer shape.
This option from Nordstrom, from BlankNYC is not only a slim cut, but also done in a pretty color combination of pink and grey. So you’ll get a fun contrast between rugged and feminine style.
Pair with light blue or grey jeans.
Available in XS – XL.
Target Universal Thread
Target has been an absolute fashion disaster lately, but there are still a few gems to be found, like this shacket from Universal Thread.
Keep in mind, this one is going to feel the most like outerwear and will be oversized.
Available in purple plaid (above) and brown in regular and plus sizes up to a 4X.
Boden
Boden, $91
The most grown-up shacket on our list is from Boden, done in soft corduroy in dusty rose (above) and a beige they are calling “popcorn.” You could take this to a casual office, paired with dark jeans or tan bottoms.
Boden offers sizes up to 20/22.
LOFT
LOFT,$98 (NOW 40% OFF! CODE: METIME)
My Pick!
LOFT always comes through with something on trend and easily wearable. This pretty shacket is soft, just the right amount oversized and works with so many things.
I’ll keep it simple with jeans, but I absolutely love that they are showing it with dusty rose colored bottoms.
Right now it’s under $60 with the code METIME available in sizes XS -XL, runs true.
H&M
H&M, $35
Finally, H&M is a fantastic resource if you want to try a trend without spending too much. This option is the most on-trend. It is oversized, with a drop shoulder.
