Working on Something New for 2018

something new for 2018

Hey Ladies,

Last Thursday, I turned 38, an age when you’re secure in your convictions, confident in your moral compass, and all too aware that time speeds up with every passing year. The combination of getting one year closer to 40, and the frustrations, and at times fury, I felt as a woman this year, really rattled me to my core. For the past few years, I’ve felt unsatisfied with limiting the blog to fashion, profoundly bored at times, and a little empty. Every couple of days I would say to my husband, “is this really what I’m going to do for the rest of my life?” Gosh, I hope not.

Don’t get me wrong, I do love helping readers navigate this somewhat overwhelming topic, but I can’t keep talking about clothes indefinitely. I started my career in fashion, and I’ll never abandon it altogether (not as long as LuLaRoe roams the earth), but it’s time to evolve.  Women are multidimensional, our lives are complicated, and to be a professional working woman means so much more than just what you’re wearing.

Long time readers know I’m not the world’s most confident person, but I know for sure that I can contribute a heck of a lot more than just what shoes to wear with which pants.  So that’s what I’m going to do.

Over the last few months I made a few decisions I want to let you in on. First, we are pulling back our posts for the rest of December. The blog will be under construction for the next several weeks over the holidays and will relaunch on January 8th. PLEASE follow our updates on Facebook and Instagram, I’ll be updating our profiles regularly over the next six weeks.

Second, our online store will remain open and will continue to grow as we expand the blog. More on that later.

The good news is that style and fashion will still very much have its place on our new site, and if that’s all you want to follow, you’ll be able to do that.  In addition to our regular wardrobe building recommendations, we’re expanding into other topics, including entrepreneurship, age-appropriate career advice, health, fitness, food, and nutrition for women with an over 30-something metabolism, financial health and wellness, and much more. We’ll curate some of the content from sites and experts we value, other content will be created in-house, all of it will be from the perspective of the modern professional woman. Instead of receiving a daily email, you’ll receive a weekly newsletter directing you back to our site. Of course, you can visit us every morning for fresh content.

I’m convinced that we are in a moment in history when women must follow their gut instinct, and pretty much every fiber of my being is telling me to take a risk and shake things up.  I’m sure I’m going to lose some readers and ruffles some feathers, that comes with the territory. But I’m also excited to see the space we’ve created expand and represent women as whole people.

Can’t wait to share this with you in the New Year!

xo,

Meg
