H&M is currently killing it in the style department. For many of us, summer is the time of year to focus on saving (I know that’s how I look at my yearly shopping budget). There is only so much to go around. In the fall, I focus on adding some better (i.e. higher priced) work pieces and try to make them as seasonless as possible to get the best price per wear ratio. Summer, however, lends itself to much more casual pieces, and they feel less permanent than say a lined blazer or work dress would. With this in mind, today’s post rounds up our favorite pieces currently available at H&M.
What were our criteria? For one, pieces that looked different, with an elevated style. We also focused on value. H&M is a fun shop to stop into now and then to try a style you may have never considered before, without investing too much of your hard-earned money.
One Shoulder Dress, $69.95
This dress makes me think of leisurely riding a bike around Italy. If that’s not on your agenda this summer, maybe meet a few friends for brunch or go to a casual outdoor cocktail party.
Crinkled Dress, $34.95
Any easy- peasy dress to wear at the beach. Add a straw clutch and head out to dinner.
Fitted Dress, $24.95
This dress looks so much more expensive than it’s $24.95 price point. This works for a summer rehearsal dinner or cocktails at a swanky rooftop bar.
Textured Weave Coat, $49.95
You may not get a lot of wear out of this in the blazing heat of summer, but come September when it can be cool, or your office wardrobe warrants a jacket, a 3/4 length coat is an often overlooked, yet super chic option.
Wide Leg Pants, $34.95
A great pair of white pants is a summer staple. These are made a bit more special with an attached belt and wide legs. Pair with a striped tee or body skimming blouse for a perfect summer office look.
Bow Blouse, $29.95
I search high and low for summer appropriate blouses. The key is to find one that works on its own, without a blazer. We love a bow blouse as it adds some much needed detail without a lot of fuss.
Jersey Jumpsuit, $17.95
I’m crazy for this jumpsuit. For under $20 you have an adorable warm weather outfit. Wear with a pair of open toe flats or a pair of wedges. I’d slick my hair back, and wear a stack of bracelets and call it a day.
Peplum Top, $29.95
This looks incredibly designer. I’ve seen versions over the past few seasons from various designers with an extra zero on the price. Pair this with a white pants or a slim pair of shorts and wedges.
Linen Blend Top, $17.95
A navy striped top with back bow detail for $17.95? Done.
Pattern Shorts, $24.95
I’ve been eyeing these shorts for weeks and have decided they fall into the “so ugly they are good category”. If you are looking for a dressed up pair of shorts, these with a simple silk tank or tee can take you to almost any summer occasion in style.
Pale pink has been a bag trend for a while now. I wouldn’t recommend paying investment bag prices for one, so a bag under $40.00 feels completely justified.
Straw Hat, $12.95
Throw in your beach bag and keep your face protected while looking cool and on trend.
If you are the type to lose your sunglasses at any opportunity, these are for you. They look sophisticated and cost the same as a latte.
Yellow Necklace, $14.95
I love this necklace! I’m wearing with white jeans and a simple grey tee shirt all summer long.
It’s bit more expensive than the rest of the list, but super high in style. If you have a tropical getaway on your calendar any time this year, this piece will take you to the pool to lunch with drinks while looking like a women who professionally vacations. Wouldn’t that be amazing?
We talked about espadrilles just last week. This are adorable for an everyday piece, especially if your wardrobe is fairly basic. These will add extra kick to any simple outfit.
