My husband turns 40 this summer. To celebrate we are planning a whirlwind trip to Europe with stops in Paris, Venice, London and Croatia. To say I’m excited is an understatement. There’s nothing I love or look forward to more than traveling with my husband. We may not always find the other one easy to live with but the second we take our seats on an airplane, we become the most compatible people on the planet.
I’m in the midst of figuring out how and what to pack. We’ll be traveling every few days, on trains, planes and, apparently, speed boat. Because of this, we decided not to check bags. I fancy myself an expert packer, but on our last trip to Paris, I checked a bag of shoes for a seven-day trip. I’ll impress myself if I can pull this off. To keep us organized and to avoid last minute packing panic, I’m starting to think about what to bring and finding it a little daunting. My first challenge was finding shoes. I’ll need something comfortable, stylish, in a neutral color that will go with everything.
On a trip to Nordstrom for a client last week, I spotted this sandal out of the corner of my eye, and then I saw this one, so I bought them both. First of all, they are on sale. I spent a little over $100 for the two. They are terribly comfortable, so I can walk all day in them without killing my feet. Best of all, they look sophisticated. The color is on point. You know I love a rich, luggage color in a shoe or bag. It’s truly neutral that goes with everything.
I’ll do a deeper post as I get more clarity around what I’m bringing and why. So far I’m planning to wear these with a simple black maxi dress, skinny jeans and a striped tank (for our day roaming in Paris), and with these striped pants and a white off the shoulder top for a day in Croatia and Venice.
Aside from the trip, I imagine these will be the shoes I live in at home this summer. They are the flip-flop alternative many of us are always looking for. Runs true to size.
