A few weeks ago I was headed to a preseason Eagles game at Lincoln Financial Field when my girlfriend, who was meeting me there, reminded me of their strict handbag rule. Unbeknownst to me, you’re not permitted to bring in any bag larger than a wristlet.
A wristlet? I haven’t had a wristlet in a decade. I ended up going without for the night, but it had me thinking about how wonderfully functional wristlets can be. The last time I worked in an office, and in this case an enormous corporate campus, was when I was at QVC. I used my wristlet all the time, from walking to the cafeteria, or running off campus for lunch to midweek happy hours in West Chester.
Back then I proudly wore my Coach wristlet. The one every recent graduate had, covered in oversized “C’s” with leather trim. I didn’t even buy it at the outlet. I thought I was living.
Fortunately, styles have evolved over the years, yet the functionality is just as convenient. I’m crazy for this wristlet by Michael Kors. The color is sophisticated, it boasts no logo, and will fit all of your essentials. I think it’s ideal if you travel for work. Grab it when you head to the hotel gym, or need to leave your room for coffee. Spend a lot of time in your office? You’re still running out to lunch, and hopefully a few happy hours – just at better bars. Once you have one, you’ll wonder how you lived without it.
Below are more of my favorite styles, all under $100.
