Let me acknowledge, off the bat, that the above leggings look like scuba pants in the photo. I assure you, in person they do not, so if you are one of our many readers who asked for a recommendation on a faux leather legging, you can give these a try. I like them for a few reasons, most notably, their high waistband. Maybe it’s my age, the bump that is my c-section scar or just my general love of comfort, but if a legging isn’t high waisted, they don’t go on my body. Who wants their waistband digging in and drooping down all day long? Not me.
Remember, these are leggings, not pants and therefore require a specific kind of top. You can create a layered look with a shell, like this one we’ve featured from Ann Taylor, and pair with a long cardigan. Or, look for an oversized sweater. We found one for tomorrow’s post that I LOVE.
These are a fun addition to your wardrobe this time of year, especially for a party in someone’s home, when you want to look festive and maybe do something different, but don’t want to be over the top. The faux leather elevates the look and gives it some edge. For shoes opt for a heel, something with a pointed toe and a higher heel. You want it to be sleek; avoid anything clunky. You could also wear an ankle boot with a skinny heel – not for everyone – but looks amazing. (Again, tune in tomorrow.)
