While I pulled back on working with new clients, every now and then someone super cool calls and it’s hard to say no. It’s nice to find myself in a place, after 10 years of taking every project that came my way, whether I wanted to do it or not, to finally be more selective about clients. It’s a win – win. I’m happy and enjoying my work again so the client gets the best of me, and therefore, the best result.
This week I worked with a fantastic woman, who is just down to earth and fun. I so appreciated where she was in life. She had her babies, moved a few times, transitioned from working outside to inside the home and, as a result, had nothing to wear.
She needed mix-and-match pieces appropriate for dinners and date nights, coffee with friends and trips to the kids’ school. I loved her, even more, when she said she didn’t care about designer labels; she just wanted cute, modern pieces she could wear with ease.
Maybe my ideal client.
I spotted this cardigan the second I walked into Nordstrom and pulled it in every color. She ended up getting it in midnight and mushroom. The cardigan drapes beautifully. The subtle chiffon oversized trim makes this dressy, but not formal. A matching tank with the same chiffon trim or a coordinating stretch tank are also available. For my client’s needs, I felt like the matching tank was too much, but having a simple shell, dyed to match, was a no brainer. We also grabbed a white tank for added variety.
You can wear this with dark skinny jeans in blue or black, leggings, and, what we’re most excited for, white jeans in the spring with a tan block heeled sandal. To wear to work, pair it with your favorite basic black or dark grey pant. Add a long necklace or scarf for added interest. It’s one of those wonderful pieces you’ll live in three out of the four seasons.
For all my private clients, avoid me having to put this in your dressing room and pick this up today.
